Hot Or Not?

Since having little Tucker, I have realized how much the clothes in my closet suck...ahem... need some revamping.  I have been on the lookout for some new clothing/outfits. I am in need of several things and definitely some staple type pieces. When I am shopping,  sometimes it's difficult to determine if certain pieces can be used in a variety of ways. So, I have been looking for some ideas online that I can keep embedded in my brain for  my next shopping trip.

I came across this pic of JLO. Her outfit is just a simple white jacket, white shirt, jeans, and what I like to call her STATEMENT piece....the shoes.  It is the perfect pop of color. Her makeup is simple and the pink lip matches the booties.
This made me think that pretty much all of us have all these items in our closet right now.
So, what do you think about the outfit...hot or not?

I also noticed that Peplum tops are supposedly hot now. Again, what do you pair it with was my dilemma. I saw a peplum top a while back at Target. Here's some ways to pair up the peplum tops. With just a pencil skirt and skinny jeans or with capris.

I was just at TJ Maxx the other day and saw a full short skirt that I liked. They didn't have my size, but I just found these ideas on pinterest on how to style it.
check out the pink statement piece...the shoes

love the shoes and bag

I've also heard that the next "In" thing in fashion is color blocking. Which to me is wearing solid colors together in an outfit that don't necessarily match, but which "go" together. Here's some pics from pinterest.

I am digging the purple tights!

This outfit I would not think to put together myself but its really cute together.

What do you think about this color blocking?

love how the shoes match the necklace

So, which of the above outfits or styles are you loving? Any other styles that you are loving? Any tips you have on replenishing my closet/wardrobe are also greatly appreciated.

Five on Friday

I am linking up with the GOOD LIFE Blog and listing the 5 things that I am currently loving. http://www.the-good-life-blog.com/2013/06/five-on-friday-link-up.html
So, here are a list of the 5 things/items that I am loving:
1. SUMMER TIME Summer is my favorite season. I love warm weather and I love being outdoors. But, most importantly, my birthday is in the summer (JUNE 20th). This summer will be exciting since I will be able to enjoy it with my little baby boy. I am also kind of happy that my due date was in May and I didn't have to go through the hot Houston summer pregnant.

2. White Shorts & Blazer Suit  Now that I am no longer pregnant, I have now been loving a lot of new clothing/ fashion. This one in particular is the white shorts suit set. I saw this at TJ MAXX a while back and loved it, but scoffed at it as my pregnant belly was NOT gonna allow me to try it on. So, this is definitely on my to buy list. It is totally me and combines the two things that I love short shorts and nice a professional look (blazer). It is kind of a party at the bottom and all business at the top lol ... kind of like a mullet hair style lol.  Plus, I love ALL white outfits...so classic and modern.

Eva Longria is working this outfit.

3.  SWIMSUITS - I am a swimsuit fanatic. I buy at least one new one each year. I noticed a yellow swimsuit awhile back at no other place than WAL-MART. I have been wanting a yellow suit for awhile. It is such a fun and flattering color. The price was like $5 for the top and $5 for the bottom. I will be going by to pick up a yellow suit.  This suit by Victoria Secret also caught my eye. I am LOVING it.
I am usually not a fan of strapless bikini top, but  thanks to the Milk Ducts (post pregnancy) and breast feeding little Tuck. I think that I may be able to WORK IT, WORK IT. LOL My favorite part of the suit is actually the bottoms. I love the straps. I hoping to get this for this summer.

4. LITTER JEWELRY -   I first heard of Litter jewelry while watching Shark Tank (the investment TV series where entrepreneurs of new products present their products and request equity/funding). I love so many of Litter's products. It is so hard for me to select one that I am loving. So, Litter if you are reading, send me a couple of pieces to review for my readers or do a giveaway to a reader. Here's some of the many things that I love by Litter Jewelry www.littersf.com

love this jeweled hat for those days when you want a different look for a simple and plain hair style.

I love garters. I would definitely where this with some shorts or a skirt. I think this would get tons of compliments and that WOW factor.

This back cross would accentuate any simple little black dress and give them something to look at as you walk away. :-)

This love letter bracelet is just too cute!

And, last the jeweled mustache when you want to be incognito and hide away from the paparazzi or from your fans lol.

5. Maxi Dresses  - Did you know that zappos.com not only sells shoes but also clothing???? I didn't either. I am in love with these

oh dear Lord bestill my heart. I love...I WANT. If my husband is reading this....I WANT :-)

Love dresses that are short in the front and long in back.

So, what do you think of my fave 5? Any items that you agree with and are loving too?  Any that you laugh at and think....oh no Tonya, you MUST be crazy? I would love to hear from you!!!! Please comment.

Baby Thompson is here! Tucker Louis Thompson's Birth Story

Hello All - Life has gone from zero to 60 every since our little baby boy, Tucker Louis, was born on Friday May 17th at 5:26pm.

Here's Tucker's Birth Story:

On Thursday, May 16th, I went in for my regular weekly doctor's appointment. The week before, my doctor told me that she did not think I would make it through the weekend, but lo and behold I did. Neither my doctor nor I could believe that the baby had not come yet. I was having a lot of pelvic pressure at the previous appointment, but oddly so, at my next appointment (May 16th) I was feeling really good...no hip pain, no pelvic pressure, and I could actually walk without waddling too much.

At the appointment, we first received another ultrasound just to check baby's placement and he was still head down and was measuring perfect. His weight was measuring about 7.5lbs. His weight totally shocked me. How could I have such a BIG baby in there. I always thought that he would be around 6lbs since hubby was a small baby (like 5lbs) and I weighed 7.7lbs when I was born.

Next, my doctor did an internal/cervical exam, and my cervix was about 5cm dilated and 80% effaced. In layman's terms, I was 5 cm wide/open and 80% thinned out.

So, my doctor asked if there were any questions towards the end of the appointment. Hubby and I asked a couple of questions. I then mentioned if I needed to walk more or have sex more (hee, hee) to get this baby here. My doctor said both could help. She then asked if we had thought about inducing. We stated that we (hubby and I) were just talking about induction (if we went past my due date). Doctor stated if we were interested in it we could do it because my cervix was definitely ready. Hubby asked when was the earliest that you can do it/have available. My doctor states, well I have availability tomorrow. I was basically 39 weeks, so about 1 week from my original due date.

SHUT THE FRONT DOOR! I was floored. I said hold up, let me wrap my head around this. You're saying I can have this baby tomorrow. I look at hubby and he's like let's do it. My doctor, looking at me, is like so do you want to do it. I finally said okay. It was so scary yet exciting. I was really going to have a baby....TOMORROW....as in the next day!!

So, we get the paperwork to report to the hospital the next day...Hubby later shared with me that he was concerned about waiting any longer and was interested in doing the induction because he feared a knot being in the umbilical cord (since baby's head was always close to the placenta). He also asked me if I wanted to wait a week and have a 8lb baby or have 7.5 baby now....ummmm, that definitely sold me :-) So we went to a nice dinner (since I couldn't eat anymore at midnight) we had a nice time enjoying our life before we became a family of 3.

I went in at 530am. I had a HUGE corner suite with and amazing view of west Houston. It was like the celebrity suite or something.  They started the Iv at 630. I had two nurses. One was experienced and she was basically training the other girl that had been there 5 months. The inexperienced girl tried twice with I.V. and couldn't do it. That really sucked and where she stuck me hurt for days then after. The other nurse came in and did the I.V. with one try. Thank you LORD!! I was 4 almost 5 cm when I went in. Pitocin (to jump start my contractions) was started at 715am. It wasn't bad at all. Contractions were like period like cramps. Doc came and broke my Water around 830am. now that hurt! NOTE; about your water breaking....the water keeps coming/gushing and coming and coming.

Contractions started coming closer together about 2 min. But still were not bad. I knew I wanted an epidural from the beginning. Hubby told me to not try and be superwoman. So I got the epi about 940am. Epi was pretty much a breeze. I didn't see the needle at all. My contractions were not bad so when they stuck me in my back I could handle it. This made me glad that I didn't wait too long to get the epidural because I could not imagine bending over to get a shot in the back when contractions are SUPER intense.  The nurse told me later that doctor said that I was her FAVORITE patient...awwwww how sweet. Everyone said that we were so low maintenance. So, I guess this is why my doc also liked us, plus my pregnancy was such a breeze.

From then, on I didn't feel much. My dilation was coming slowly. The nurses would say I was say 6cm yet doc would say I was a 7cm. I started feeling more pressure in the rectal region, and I could sense that I was having a contraction from this rectal pressure. Hubby viewed the monitor and confirmed when I was having contractions or would tell me that there is a big contraction coming and he would hold my hand through it. Finally at 5pm doc said I was ready. The nurses did a shift change at this moment and I got another nurse who was really good. My bed was like a robot bed how it broke down and leg lifts popped up. It was amazing how everything and everyone got in place for the big arrival. I began pushing around 5:10 or so. One of the nurses would count to 10 as I held my thighs and pushed. I didn't feel much while pushing just pressure and my doctor's hand stretching me (ahem) out to make way for the head and Tucker Louis arrived at 5:26. Hubby cut the cord which he said was REALLY thick and he had small scissors lol.

Tucker came out SCREAMING. This was the most amazing sound to hear.

Later, I asked the nurse what was Tucker's APGAR score (they score each baby from 1 to 10, based on appearance, reflex, color, etc). She said Tucker scored a 9 out of 10. The decrease was due to his color. I am assuming he was not as Pink (dark) as he should have been. They say rarely do babies score 10 out of 10.

Tucker was 7.1 lbs and 20.25 inches long.

We are SOOOOOO in love with our baby boy! PICS below. (CLICK TO ENLARGE THEM)

ICE chips....Gosh I was STARVING

 still crying

 I was still in shock

look at that tongue lol

He's quiet now...on the warming bed

about to do some skin to skin time

Hubby laughs at this pic and says I look like I just won an award. I said back in response "I would like to thank the academy"

I am STILL in awe at what our BODIES can do as women. I can't believe that this perfect little person was inside of me. I can't believe Jerry and I basically made this baby from SCRATCH lol. I felt like a SUPERWOMAN!!! I am excited to see him grow up.

I can't believe that I am saying this, but I look forward to some day having another baby

My mom, sis, niece arrived the date that we were discharged. I spent two nights in the hospital. You can kind see my view in the background. I would definitely recommend my hospital to ANYONE.

Please mark May 17, 2013 as the birth date of one of our FUTURE Presidents of the USA....Tucker Louis Thompson for President :-)

Although, I use to envision going into labor on my own and rushing to the hospital in the middle of the night with the contractions, the way our delivery happened was perfect and was much like me and Hubby...laid back and easy.....
